Proximity indicators

What proximity scores mean, how they're calculated, and what the color bands indicate.

Updated 2026-05-29·2 min read

The proximity indicator shows how close the current market price is to triggering a strategy's entry or exit condition, expressed as a 0–100 score across 3 colour bands. A high score means the strategy is close to firing; a low score means conditions are still far from met.

What does proximity show?

The proximity indicator shows how close the current market price is to triggering a strategy's entry or exit condition. It's displayed on the strategy card and detail page.

A high proximity score means the strategy is close to firing — a low score means it's far away.

What do the color bands mean?

ColorMeaning
GreenVery close (≥80% proximity)
YellowModerate (40–79%)
RedFar (< 40%)

How is proximity calculated?

Proximity is calculated by the inferStrategyMetadata function in the web app. It compares the current price to the strategy's entry condition thresholds, and expresses the result as a 0–100 percentage.

The exact calculation depends on the strategy pattern (RSI level, moving average crossover, price target, etc.) and is an approximation — proximity is a monitoring aid, not a precise trigger prediction.

How are multiple conditions handled?

For strategies with multiple entry conditions ANDed together, the displayed proximity is the weakest (lowest-score) condition — reflecting that all conditions must be met to trigger.

How is proximity shown in the agents dashboard?

Proximity is shown as a progress bar on each strategy card. Combined with the current strategy status, it gives a quick view of which strategies are active and approaching triggers.
