Managing accounts

Adding, removing, testing, and troubleshooting connected exchange accounts.

Updated 2026-05-29·2 min read

The Connect page shows all your linked exchange accounts with their status, balance, and active agent count. This guide covers how to rename, test, remove, and reconnect accounts, and explains how to safely offboard a connection without affecting open positions.

How do I view my connected accounts?

Go to /connect — it shows all your connected exchange accounts with:

  • Account name (editable)
  • Exchange
  • Status: Connected, Error, or Inactive
  • Last balance poll timestamp
  • Number of active agents using this account

How do I rename an account?

Click the account name to edit it inline. Clear names (e.g. "Binance — BTC momentum") make it easier to manage multiple accounts on the same exchange.

How do I test a connection?

Click Test next to any account to run a live read-only check:

  • Attempts to fetch your balance
  • Verifies the API key permissions
  • Returns the current balance if successful

Use this after creating a new key or after an error to confirm the connection is healthy.

How do I remove an account?

Click the account → Remove connection.

Before removing:

  • Any running agents using this account will pause immediately
  • Open positions are not closed — they remain on the exchange
  • The account's portfolio data is removed from Coinrule's Portfolio view

To safely remove:

  1. Stop all agents using this account
  2. Close any open positions (on the exchange or via Coinrule's "Close position" button)
  3. Remove the connection

How do I reconnect after a broken connection?

If an account shows "Error" status:

  1. Check the error message (click the account to expand)
  2. Fix the underlying issue (usually: revoked API key, missing permission, or IP restriction change)
  3. Click Reconnect and re-enter the new key if needed

Can I connect multiple accounts from the same exchange?

You can connect multiple accounts from the same exchange (e.g. two separate Binance accounts). They appear as separate entries and have independent balances and agent allocations.
