Connect ChatGPT to Coinrule

Step-by-step guide to connect ChatGPT to your Coinrule account with MCP, so ChatGPT can trade crypto and stocks, read balances, and build strategies — plus fixes for invalid_client.

ChatGPT can connect to Coinrule as a custom MCP connector. Once connected, ChatGPT can read your portfolio and, with write access, launch and manage trading strategies across your connected exchanges and brokers.

Add Coinrule as a ChatGPT connector

  1. Open ChatGPT connector settings

In ChatGPT, go to Settings and open the Apps / Connectors area, then choose to add a custom connector.

  2. Enter the Coinrule MCP URL

Use the Coinrule MCP server URL:

    https://cloud.coinrule.com/mcp

ChatGPT auto-discovers the OAuth configuration from this URL — you do not need to paste any other endpoints.

  3. Sign in with Coinrule

Complete the Coinrule sign-in that ChatGPT opens. Authentication is handled by Coinrule over OAuth; ChatGPT never sees your password or exchange keys.

  4. Choose Read only or Read + Write

Grant Read only to inspect your account, or Read + Write to let ChatGPT create and manage strategies. See scopes and permissions.

  5. Confirm the connection

Ask ChatGPT to "show my Coinrule portfolio balances" to verify the tools are working.

Fixing "invalid_client"

If ChatGPT shows an invalid_client error while connecting, remove the Coinrule connector and add it again from scratch. ChatGPT occasionally caches a stale client registration; re-adding the connector forces a fresh OAuth registration and clears the error.

Still stuck?

If re-adding the connector does not help, confirm the URL is exactly https://cloud.coinrule.com/mcp (no trailing path), then see troubleshooting.

Try it

  • "What Coinrule bots do I have running and are they up or down today?"
  • "Create a bot that buys BTC when RSI drops below 30 on Binance." (requires Read + Write)
  • "Launch the AI majors basket with $1,000." (requires Read + Write)

See example prompts for more.

Managing the connection

Your ChatGPT connection is listed in Settings → Integrations, where you can revoke access at any time.
