KuCoin requires an API key, API secret, and a passphrase. All three are required.
How do I set up KuCoin?
Open KuCoin API management →
Enable these permissions
- ✓General— read account info and balances.
- ✓Spot Trading— required when connecting Spot or Both.
- ✓Futures Trading— required for Classic perpetual futures accounts.
- ✓Unified— required for Unified Trading Account perpetual futures accounts.
Leave these OFF
- ✕Withdrawal

The KuCoin passphrase is set by you when you create the API key. It is NOT your KuCoin account password. Store it somewhere safe — you cannot retrieve it later.

All spot pairs on KuCoin with USDT as the quote currency.
Troubleshooting
| Error | Fix |

Invalid KC-API-PASSPHRASE | Make sure you're using the passphrase you set, not your login password |
Invalid API key | Re-generate the key and check there's no trailing whitespace |
Your order's size is too small | KuCoin minimum order is usually $1 USDT equivalent |
